To further refine the talent funding system of the science fund, give full play to the fund's role in attracting and nurturing talents, and draw outstanding young overseas talents to work in China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) continued to implement the NSFC Science Fund Program for Distinguished Young Scholars (Overseas) in 2024. Launched in 2021, this program is intended to attract and encourage outstanding young overseas scholars (including non-Chinese foreign talents) who have achieved remarkable accomplishments in natural sciences, engineering and technology as well as other fields to work in China. It supports them in independently selecting research directions for innovative research initiatives, facilitates the rapid development of young scientific and technological talents, cultivates a contingent of outstanding academic backbones who are expected to step into the forefront of global science and technology, and thereby contributes to building China into a world leader in science and technology.
